Microsoft Security Essentials 4.1 – Windows Antivirus Software

We have seen a number of antivirus programs for Windows operating systems which are developed by many security software vendors. But in this area, Microsoft has always been showing less impact compared to previous security tools. It is time now for Microsoft which released the latest Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) which happens to be the best security program of all its’ released versions.

Microsoft Security Essentials 4.1 was developed to safeguard your Windows PC against all computer viruses and spyware-related threats with its built-in Antivirus and Antispyware engines. MSE replaces Windows Live OneCare and Windows Defender which are discontinued commercial antivirus services by Microsoft.

The latest version MSE 4.1 comes with enhanced protection engine, improved performance and easier to use interface. You can download Microsoft Security Essentials 4.1 for free with automatic virus definition updates.

Installation and Interface:

MSE 4.1 has clean and easy installation which updates the latest virus definitions as soon as the process gets completed. The interface doesn’t have anything new in this new version and it is the same with well-organized GUI and clean navigation. The “Home” tabbed menu shows you the Real-time protection, Virus definitions status and the Scan details. The “Update” menu will help to update the virus and spyware definitions with a dedicated “Update” button.

The “History” menu shows all the items that were detected, items that are allowed to run and items that are sent to quarantine. You can customize the default actions, schedule scans and set other advanced options using “Settings” menu.

  • Smart Protection – It blocks only the vulnerable softwares that are listed in MSE antimalware definitions and updates, not the real or good softwares.
  • Rootkit Protection – As rootkits are hard to remove from any computer, MSE 4.1 monitors your PC for any attacks or unexpected changes which are harmful.
  • Anti-Stealth Technology – Removes malicious programs and drivers that rootkits tries to steal your personal information.
  • Runs in the background quietly without showing impact on your PC performance.

If you are a hardcore fan of Microsoft or Windows security, go for Microsoft Security Essentials 4.1 or else look for another free antivirus like Avast, AVG which are far more better. The 4.2 prerelease version is also available for download but first you have to download the 4.1 version.
